"Songs are the key"Active Image

There's no point hitting the "record" button if you don't have the songs.

I started as a writer and have written a lot of songs for artists, with other writers.  As a writer I was signed at the age of 18 with Songskill Publishers owned by Beeb Birtles (former Little River Band).  So I have a love of songs and moments in songs when melody and lyric make the desired impact and can potentially change a life, or at least make someone's day.

Every decision made in the studio should be pointed at making the song have its ultimate impact.  It is very easy to produce or mix a great song.  When you're spending all your time distracting the listener from weak moments, you know that the "big red button" should never have been pressed.  You can play a good song with a full production, or just with an acoustic guitar or piano.  A good song will stand on its own regardless of what's happening around it.

Albums can be ruined by bad songs.  You're better off recording 4 good songs and putting it out as a little EP instead of filling it up with 6 average ones and calling it an album.
